Susan Shaw
President and Head Cowgirl...
From graphics and tea to her shamanic genesis of Hyperspace Cowgirls, our vivacious entrepreneur, MC, and queenpin continues to spin a crazy quilt from New York City to cyberspace.

Prior to her trailblazing innovations in Web design, Susan mastered many technical arts as well as other more earth-
bound ones.

From a background in art and theoretical mathematics, Susan proceeded to simultaneous careers in graphic design and photography. These two mediums have scattered the results of her creative genius across the city. From the New York City Subway map at every station, to her photos resting comfortably in MOMA's permanent collection, Susan's more than an established City Gal.

Understandably reticent about these accomplishments, Susan is more apt to relate her exploits performing her more palpable arts: Chanoyu (the Japanese tea ceremony) and quilting. For over fifteen years now she's explored the Urasenke school of tea with her group the Nantokakai. Literally translated as the "What the heck is this? group," they render this traditionally serene ritual in bohemian fashion.
Susan also creates thematic quilts of humor and beauty. You'll find one such quilt depicting slices of pie in a magazine somewhere. In fact, one of her first (and continuing) joys in cyberspace is chatting with fellow quilters around the globe. She insists, "It's the new thread that binds us all."

Don't be fooled by these seemingly sedentary pursuits, Susan's a true cowgirl at heart. Unfortunately it's a long ride from Silicon Alley to Death Valley. So Susan curbs her cravings for rustling and wrangling through race walking, rock climbing, and cross country skiing. With all this activity, it's amazing that she finds enough time to be a Hyperspace cowgirl.

If you ask her, why "Cowgirls?" she'll tell you that the name came to her in a dream. Perhaps Delores del Ruby visited Susan during one of Delores' shamanic peyote adventures down at the Rubber Rose Ranch. While the mysterious origins of this mystical visitation may never be fully explained, Susan is determined to realize it's greater meaning. And there's no doubt our Head Cowgirl will discover it as she leads us through the untamed Frontiers of Cyberspace.
